Mary Namukose

Mary Namukose is an Aquatic Ecologist who has been working in international development cooperation and research for almost a decade.


Currently, Mary is an Advisor for Water Resources, Climate, and Environment at the GIZ Uganda’s Transboundary Water Corporation in the Nile Basin Programme. Her current work involves supporting projects addressing sustainable use and management of wetlands and peatlands resources in the Nile Basin.


Mary’s connection and interest in geospatial technologies is mainly through her role as a Strategy and Partnership lead at Women in GIS (WiGIS) Uganda, a professional network she co-founded to provide a safe space for women using geospatial technologies in Uganda to engage, learn, share, and navigate professional challenges.
