Chidimma Maduka

Chidimma Maduka (PhD) is a Geospatial Ecologist and Lecturer at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU) in Awka, Nigeria, and a co-founder of African Women in GIS. Her research focuses on vegetation phenology, climate-vegetation interactions, and ecosystem dynamics, with strong expertise in GIS, remote sensing, and spatial modelling.


She develops data-driven solutions for environmental monitoring, including Phen-Risk, a phenological intelligence system for food security in West Africa. Her work uses Earth Observation data to detect ecosystem stress signals and inform decision-making. She is actively developing scalable, technology-enabled approaches for climate risk assessment, ecosystem resilience, and sustainable environmental management across Africa.
